Ежегодно 2 апреля в день рождения великого сказочника из Дании Ганса Христиана Андерсена (Hans Christian Andersen) весь мир отмечает Международный день детской книги (International Children`s Book Day). Через хорошую книгу ребенок может соприкоснуться с другими культурами и обнаружить, как много общего в мыслях и чувствах людей из разных стран. В начале апреля в библиотеке средней школы была организована книжная выставка, на которой представлена детская художественная литература на иностранных языках, изучаемых в нашей школе: английском, французском, испанском, немецком и китайском.
Отметили этот день и ребята из нашего школьного клуба любителей английской словесности «Book Hour». Пятиклассники продолжили чтение и обсуждение замечательной книги английского писателя Poaльда Даля «Большой и Добрый Великан». БДВ – самый добрый на свете великан, это именно он приносит детям приятные сны. А главное — он стал лучшим другом маленькой девочки Софи. К сожалению, не все великаны такие дружелюбные. Вот почему Софи и БДВ придумали как освободить мир от злобных чудовищ. Удалось ли друзьям осуществить свой план? Это мы узнаем в конце книги. Юные читатели с восторгом следили за опасными приключениями девочки и ее друга Доброго Великана. В конце встречи студентка 10 класса DP Мариам Моавад объяснила непонятные слова и выражения, показала иллюстрации художника Квентина Блейка. Ребята делились впечатлениями, вспоминали страшные и смешные истории из своей жизни и отвечали на вопросы:
